Opportunity and Talent

We were pleased to host ESEI’s regular jobs fair once again this October. On a bright and sunny morning in the garden, our students got to meet representatives from a number of important local and international businesses.

During the event students took part in friendly chats and informal interviews to arrange real-world work experience through our internship programme.

The internships run from three to six months and many of our students take on roles that relate well to their interests and fields of study.

Outstanding students often go on to full-time employment with their host companies afterwards, but most importantly, all learn a lot and come away with new skills, experiences, and connections.

What our students thought

Sam Needlman from Maryland, USA.

Sam is studying International Relations and International Business.

“The fair was very helpful, I found the companies here to be forward-thinking and just want I was hoping for. The mix of established companies and startups was great and really provided a great balance. I came to hopefully, get an internship and with luck I will land one with one of these companies.”

Amr Mahmoud from Egypt

Amr is studying International Relations and International Business.

“I’m here to find an internship so I can get some experience working in another culture, as it’s very different from Egypt. Ideally I’d like to find work in the banking and finance sector, but I’d also be be happy with a customer service role.”

Manjuladevi Ravikumar from Chennai, India

Manjuladevi is studying Tourism and Hospitality Management.

“I’m just finishing my masters in Tourism and Hospitality Management and I’m looking for an internship in Barcelona or France to get some real work experience and improve my CV. It’s great to have this opportunity.”

Which companies came along?

PTC

PTC is a Boston-based business-to-business technology (B2B) company that helps its customers leverage the quickly evolving digital ecosystem, seamlessly linking the real world to the digital landscape.

The company offers cutting-edge B2B solutions using the Internet of Things, Augmented reality, 3D printing, Digital Twin, and Industrie 4.0 . Technology.

Currently, PTC is working with Raimonda, a bachelor’s student from ESEI, in its Barcelona office. The company has a young, dynamic and international team and promises that the internship doesn’t involve making tea of coffee!

In fact, the company offers an exciting opportunity to any intern that wants to work in a inspiring, tech-focused environment.

With an onboarding program, lots of support and a mentor, interns will see a lot of benefits. Interns will also spend some time shadowing other employees and learning from online training. The focus is on growth and personal development, and there is the chance of promotion, too.

Apartment Barcelona

Apartment Barcelona is an accommodation provider, which offers holiday and long-term rentals, and also sell apartments. Currently, the company is looking for a marketing and customer service intern.

Apartment Barcelona offers a multicultural and dynamic work environment and, although it’s a big business, it has a tight-knit community and it’s easy to form close working relationships and friendships with colleagues.

It’s a great place to take an internship because it’s very flexible – allowing students to work and study at the same time.

Interns are paired with a mentor and are offered coaching. And of course, the company keeps ESEI up to date with student progress!

Uniplaces

Uniplaces helps students find accommodation online in Barcelona and other European cities, bridging the gap between student and landlord. The company is looking for a part-time Student ambassador.

The successful applicant will assist with operations, marketing, event organisation and content creation – and get a lot of real-world work experience in this performance-based role.

In the summer, Uniplaces has internship spots for students to work in company headquarters in Lisbon. Interns in this role will help with operations, bookings and sales in a young and international team. This role includes accommodation, flights and food.

Uniplaces offer ESEI students a 25% discount on the service fee and if you are interested in working with the company, check out the currently available positions here and send your CV.

Tradler

Tradler is a startup company run by CEO Jasper Deprez, an ESEI alumnus. The global platform connects travellers with activities that match their tastes.

Though similar to other travel planning websites, Tradler stands out by its intelligent use of big data and AI to make highly personalised and relevant recommendations to its users.

Being a startup, there is a chance to make a real impact at Tradler. Currently, the company is looking for a Social Media Wizard and a Sales Shark.

The company offers a great opportunity for interns who want to apply what they are learning at ESEI and who want to be part of a small, young, dynamic team.

After the fair, we had a talk with Jasper about his experience at the fair, and to know more about his company, here’s what he had to say!

Opportuniy ESEI

Bifa

Bifa – the Barcelona International Film and Audiovisual Arts Academy – is currently looking for a digital marketing intern.

This is a great position for a candidate with a love for film, video and digital marketing. The role offers a lot of freedom and is perfect for a self-sufficient decision-maker.

Successful applicants will be part of the core team, there are no strict guidelines and there is the freedom and chance to develop your own digital marketing strategy.

Once the internship is over, the academy may offer the chance of employment to exceptional interns.

Emperium Events

Emperium Events, co-run by ESEI’s own Lucas Helaouet, organises club nights, trips to the mountains, Meetups, networking, staff parties, team building – and a lot more – for businesses and business students in Barcelona.

The company is currently looking for a social media and business development intern.

It’s a great place to work because interns get a lot of freedom and the chance to make a big impact and even be the face of the company – talking directly to clients and managing social pages.

Interns are well placed to understand the target market – other business students! Emperium Events also offers the chance to meet a lot of new people and build a strong network.

HotelsCombined

HotelsCombined is an independently-owned hotel comparison site which promises unbiased recommendations, and the best prices and deals.

Currently, there are two roles on offer:

The company requires an English speaker with knowledge of second language to work in invoicing and finance. If you speak Spanish, French and/or Italian it’s a bonus.

Also on offer is a role in Visual design. This requires an English speaker with a creative marketing mind.

ESEI students and staff receive a 10% discount off the final cost of any hotels booked – this money is given as a cash-back offer via PayPal.

Glovo web

Glovo

Glovo is a Barcelona-based on-demand delivery startup that promises “Anything you want in 60 minutes”. The company is changing how people buy a whole range of real-world products online.

Glovo is growing rapidly and has expanded from Barcelona to Madrid, Valencia, Zaragoza, Palma, Sevilla and Málaga and also has an international presence in Milan, Rome and Paris.

This exciting company is looking for interns with a background or studies related to marketing, office (administration), HR and Sales.

Is your business looking for top talent?
